A Shark (Canvas)

This is one of the most fascinating and at the same time the most terrifying animals in nature, capable of killing a human being in seconds. Sharks are present in different species, and in recent decades it has been the protagonist of many films that have highlighted its great danger.

Among these, the ancestor of the genre is undoubtedly The Shark, a thriller from 1975, directed by Steven Spielberg in his early days. Since then, in addition to its sequels, there have been dozens of films that have seen it take center stage.

Lately, several species of these fish have started to be seen even off (in some cases not too much) our shores, which is considerably frightening, considering the summer season now at its peak.

Sharks: sightings in Italy in recent months

There are more than 400 species of sharks in the world, 47 of which are found in the Mediterranean basin alone. Although the attacks on humans are about 6 per year, the fear is great, especially knowing that they roam the waters of our Peninsula. According to experts, this greater presence is due to the rise in water temperatures, due to the great heat of this period.

The first sighting in recent months was in May, when fishermen unwittingly harnessed one in their nets off Brindisi. A few days later, still in Puglia but near Taranto, a man spots a bulldog shark. In Badolato, in the province of Catanzaro, they reported a rare thresher shark of about 3 meters.
