What is discovery? It is a real underwater ecosystem that sees a large number of small animals very similar to shrimps appear. The precise area has not yet been revealed, but the reference glacier has been identified.
This secret world – as it was called – is located near the famous Ross Wall. It is the largest ice shelf found in Antarctica, so much so that its dimensions are comparable to those of France.
The study was conducted by several scientists in different parts of the world and they all agreed on the same conclusion: climate change has a major influence on ice melting.
It is precisely this phenomenon that brought to light the presence of some holes under which there were amphipods, that is to say marine species very similar both in shape and size to crabs.
