A giant predator prowls our rivers, is it dangerous? The details

It’s sea time, but that’s not all. Many Italians during the summer love and prefer to go not only to the sea. Among the destinations also to the nearest freshwater places where swimming is possible such as rivers and lakes. The opportunity to cool off and take a break from the heat.

Many worry about trying on the costume. Not everyone thinks of the many animals that inhabit our seabed. Swimming is also possible in fresh water, therefore lakes and rivers, where it is possible to make surprise encounters that could frighten us.

This summer, a giant specimen originating from the Asian coasts was seen in our rivers. It arrived in the Mediterranean basin because of climate change. We do not yet know what consequences this may have on the cycle of the ecosystem chain of our peninsula.

River predator gone to detail, expert opinion on huge giant fish

Experts have observed the existence of a huge catfish, the scientific name of which is Pangasianodon Gigas. It has recently been sighted in Italian rivers. Despite initial concerns and alarms, observers ruled that the specimen would not present a danger to humans.

It is used to swimming peacefully in our waters and the experts have pointed out the beauty of the fish; a real spectacle of nature. However, it is not recommended to approach it. Anyone who has seen it assures us that it is a real charm.

Experts explained that the specimen has been populating Italian freshwater beds for some time now. It is recognizable thanks to a few precise precautions. First of all, it is about three meters long and is distinguished by its colors which oscillate between white and gray.

The dorsal fin is very visible and recognizable because it is located very close to the head. It is tall and angular, triangular in shape. It measures between 26 and 46 centimeters, while its weight can reach about 350 kilos.

Experts recommend not to fish and not to disturb this specimen, which would be endangered and above all do not worry when it is seen because it would be completely harmless, having neither teeth nor barbels.
