It’s Not Your Mom’s Presbyterian Church, Donald!

Donald Trump attended the First Presbyterian Church in Muscatine, Iowa, on Sunday, presumably to remind people that, as he likes to say, he is a Protestant.

I don’t know if this is some brilliant marketing ploy or just an example of sloppiness on his campaign, but the church he attended is quite liberal. The pastor used the occasion to give a lecture on humility and welcoming refugees. Trump told reporters actually he has a lot of humility. Nobody can beat him in that either:

‘‘I heard that,’’ Trump told reporters. ‘‘I wondered if that was for me. They didn’t even know I was coming, so I doubt it. But it’s an appropriate phrase. … Perhaps she had something in mind.”

“I have more humility than people think,” he asserted.

The First Presbyterian church of Muscatine also belongs to the pro-gay marriage and pro-choice branch of the Presbyterians. Not sure what message The Donald wanted to send to Iowa voters days before the caucus.

But it’s not your mom’s Presbyterian church any more Donald. Did you know that?
